A Guide to Biarritz, France

A Guide to Biarritz, France

Nestled in the heart of the French Basque Country, this iconic surf town offers a perfect blend of charm and coastal allure. Here's your guide to experiencing its unique character. Theres nothing quite like it, which is why we had to come out with our new Biarritz sandal, perfect for summer strolls.

When it came to finding a place to stay, Airbnb was hands-down the best choice. I spent about a week in Biarritz last summer and completely fell for its quiet charm. There’s truly no place like it. This town has a sleepy, relaxed vibe, yet still carries a touch of Parisian elegance that makes it feel special.

One of my favorite things about staying in Biarritz is its location. You’re perfectly positioned to see more than just the French side of the Basque Country. In fact, Spain is just a short drive away. San Sebastián is only about two hours by car.

In this post, I’ll share my favorite spots in Biarritz, along with some top recommendations for a day (or two) in San Sebastián. Whether you're planning a laid-back beach day or a mini cross-border adventure, this corner of Europe has so much to offer.

If you're feeling fancy, stay at The Hôtel du Palais Biarritz. As you're walking through town, you can't miss it!

The best part of my mornings in Biarritz was heading over to the local fresh food market Les Halles de Biarritz . This place is a dream. From vibrant fruits and vegetables to quiches and pastries and the most irresistible olives, every stall is perfect.

Les Halles is the perfect way to start your day in Biarritz.

When you step back outside, there is a whole display of different vendors selling their clothing, accessories, shoes, plates, you name it! I found the best woven bags and toiletry cases here. And, it's all hand made with love in Biarritz. There’s something so special about bringing home a piece of the place, especially when it’s made with love by local artisans. See below.

PS- French pharmacy's EVERYWHERE!

For your first day trip, spend the day in Saint-Jean-de-Luz ! This town is magical. It is a bit more alive than Biarritz! You feel like you are on a movie set as you walk around.

For your next day trip, head on over to San-Sebastian, Spain! Here you can find the best tapas, beach spots, shopping, and fun places to hangout and drink wine, like Plaza de la Constitución. See below!

So many day trips!! But seriously, it's the best part of staying in the Basque Country!

Head to Bilbao to check out the Guggenheim. This museum is really architecturally significant. After a day at the museum, we went to Michelin one-star Restaurante Mina for a late lunch. It was absolutely lovely and such a unique culinary experience. Our days had been filled with boulangerie's, so it was exciting to have a really great dining experience.

After my trip to the Basque Country, I realized something amazing: you can experience the feeling of visiting three completely different places all while staying in just one location.

The only thing i'm sad about is the fact that I didn't have these Biarritz sandals to wear while I was there.
