Meet Miss Larroudé, Carson Meyer
A beauty through and through, we caught up with Doula and founder of C & The Moon to talk about the endless possibilities of Fall, what’s inspiring her right now, and where she sees her passions taking her in the future.
Where are you based?
Black Mountain, North Carolina
What do you do?
I’m a birth doula and the founder of C & The Moon skincare.
Favorite Larroude Shoe for Fall?
Hard to pick just one, but I am obsessed with the Blair Block in Ivory.
What excites you about Fall?
Where I live we get the most magnificent Fall leaves. People travel all over the world to see the trees change. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love the food and being together with family.
Favorite restaurant/dish in the city you live in?
Pure and Proper in Black Mountain for dinner.
IG Account you follow for Inspo:
What inspires you?
Nature, my daughter Lou, and the mothers I work with.
How did you get your start?
I saw the ‘Business of Being Born’ when I was in college and it completely changed the course of my life. It opened my eyes to the realities of our broken healthcare system and propelled me on my path as a doula. I connected with Lori Bregman who took me under her wing and became my mentor. She helped me to shape my practice and create classes that I could offer mamas all over the country.
Piece of advice for your younger self / One thing you wish you knew when you were first starting out?
It's okay to ask for help, you don't have to do it all. Today I have an amazing team that helps me run my skincare company but I spent too many years doing it alone.
What does a typical day at work look like?
I am lucky enough to work from home with the flexibility to be with my daughter most of the day. Once she goes down for her morning nap I get to my emails and check in with my C & The Moon team and then I get to writing. I am working on my first book at the moment! Once a week I teach my Growing Together Prenatal Circle and every other day I see clients virtually.
What are some of the biggest challenges that you face in your line of work? How do you navigate them?
Being your own boss has many advantages, but for me time management is a big challenge when it comes to navigating all of my passions, professions, and personal life.
What is one of your biggest successes so far?
I am really proud to have an award winning skincare product that is loved by so many. Being a doula and having a positive impact in the lives of mamas and babies is my greatest success and the most rewarding work.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In five years I see myself continuing to do what I love while growing my family.
